Lauren Withrow
The cinematic style of Lauren Withrow is what drew Mother F Stop to feature this Texan born, now Brooklyn based photographer. Starting out at the age of 15, borrowing a Canon Rebel from her father, she began photographing a documentary of herself which ended 365 days later- one portrait, each day. Using a mixture of black and white images with color, Withrow uses lighting in such a gritty and dark way that the viewer hardly recognizes the change. They are strikingly captured in such a way that viewers feel they are emerged in the scene, conversating, and experiencing the surrounding, pushing beyond the frame- much like viewers in a movie theater.
